Sourcing

Sourcing from India has six distinct stages, each with its own realistic timeline. Most pre-opening delays come from compressing them into one step, not from any single stage going wrong.

China versus India used to be a settled comparison. Rising Chinese costs, cotton duty removal in India, and active supply-chain diversification have closed the gap enough to be worth re-checking.

A price-per-kilogram comparison misses the variable that actually determines whether a hospitality linen order survives 200+ commercial wash cycles: the inspection process behind it.

China’s rising costs and Turkey’s EU-adjacent wage floor make India’s landed cost more competitive than most African buyers assume — and GSM consistency, not price alone, is what actually separates sourcing origins over time.

Erode isn’t a single-specialty cluster like Solapur or Karur — it’s the dyeing and processing hub that much of Tamil Nadu’s textile belt quietly depends on, plus a growing direct-export base in bed sheets and table linen.

Karur is India’s specialist made-ups cluster for bed, kitchen and table linen — and 2025’s US tariff pressure has left mills with real capacity and a fresh incentive to court GCC hospitality buyers.

A district-wide look at the Solapur textile cluster — scale, GI protection, integration, HS classification, and a five-step supplier vetting process for hospitality buyers.

A procurement manager opening bids for a 300-room hotel’s bed linen and terry towel program usually ends up with the same shortlist: a mill in Karur, one in Panipat, one in Solapur, and a trading house offering to blend all three. The Solapur quote is often the cheapest and the fastest to sample — and

The most common sourcing mistake is buying retail-spec linen for a commercial laundry environment. The failure shows up around wash forty.
